For three seasons the show belonged to Four Seasons. Maui, Taormina, Koh Samui. Season 4 breaks the pattern. Mike White moved the whole thing to the Côte d'Azur and picked two hotels run by entirely different groups: a nineteenth century château run by Airelles, and a 1929 Art Deco landmark run by Hyatt. For the first time, a main White Lotus hotel can be booked with a major hotel points programme.
The two hotels could hardly be more different, and that difference is the useful part if you are thinking about a trip. One is a quiet palace hotel on a hill above Pampelonne Bay with 86 rooms. Château de la Messardière, Saint Tropez (the White Lotus du Cap)
Château de la Messardière sits in a 13 hectare park in the hills above Saint Tropez, looking down over Pampelonne Bay. It was built in the nineteenth century as a wedding gift from a wealthy merchant to his daughter, became a hotel in 1989, and joined the Airelles collection in 2019 before reopening in July 2021. The French Ministry of Tourism has given it palace status, the highest hotel classification in France.
There are 86 rooms and suites, which is small enough that it rarely feels busy even at its peak. Dining is the real draw. Matsuhisa brings Nobu Matsuhisa's Japanese Peruvian menu to the terrace, Jardin Tropezina on Pampelonne beach is run with Jean François Piège, and the pastry is by Cédric Grolet. The 1,000 square metre spa overlooks the bay and uses Valmont and LBA treatments, and there are pools set into the gardens.
What it costs
Rooms start at roughly €1,750 (about US$2,040) a night, and suites climb steeply from there. July and August sit well above that. Like most Saint Tropez palace hotels it runs a seasonal calendar, so check the opening dates before you plan an off season trip.

Couples who want the quiet, grown up version of the Riviera, with the beach club scene a short drive away rather than outside the window.
Hôtel Martinez, Cannes (the White Lotus Cannes)
Hôtel Martinez opened on the Croisette in 1929 and has been the social centre of the Cannes Film Festival for decades. It has hosted the festival jury dinner for around thirty years, which is exactly why a season set during festival week lands here. It is now part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection.
With more than 400 rooms and suites it is a very different stay from the château. Expect a private beach club on the bay, a heated outdoor pool, a spa, several bars, and La Palme d'Or, its Michelin starred restaurant. Step out of the front door and you are on the Croisette, a few minutes' walk from the Palais des Festivals.
What it costs
This is where the Martinez gets interesting. In the quiet months rooms can be found from around US$279 a night. In summer, and above all during the festival in May, rates regularly pass US$1,000 and sell out months ahead.
Booking with World of Hyatt points
Because it is a Hyatt hotel, the Martinez can be booked with World of Hyatt points. Before Hyatt changed its award chart in May 2026 it was a Category 8 hotel with awards from 35,000 points a night. Check the current category on Hyatt's site before you transfer any points, because the new chart may have moved it.

If money is no object and you want the mood of the show, book the château. If you want to stand where the festival actually happens, or you have Hyatt points to use, book the Martinez. For a longer trip, split the week: Cannes and Saint Tropez are about ninety minutes apart by road, and that is a very White Lotus way to spend a week.
When to go
The Cannes Film Festival runs in May, and that is the week the season is set in. It is also the most expensive and hardest week of the year to book in Cannes. June and September give you the same sea and far better rates, with fewer crowds. Saint Tropez is at its busiest in July and August.

HBO announced in April 2026 that filming had begun, with the story following a new group of guests and staff over one week during the Cannes Film Festival. The announced cast includes Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Laura Dern, Kumail Nanjiani, Chris Messina, Ben Kingsley, Heather Graham and Rosie Perez.
