Choose your region first
If you only have 5 to 7 nights, pick two regions. The classic split is Ubud plus a beach region. If you have 10 nights or more, three regions is achievable. If you have under 5 nights, pick one region and stay put.
The best months to visit Bali are May, June and September. These months sit inside the dry season with reliable weather but outside peak European and Australian school holidays. Rates run 25 to 40 percent below July and August peak. The very best week of the year for value is the first week of May, when hotels are quietest just before the European summer wave arrives.

The three quietest weeks of the year
The first week of May. Dry season has started, rainfall has dropped, but European summer holidays have not begun and Australian schools are mid term. Rates run 25 to 40 percent below July and August peak. The single best week of the year for value.
The first three weeks of November. A slightly wetter shoulder month, but rain comes in short afternoon bursts. Crowds are thin, rates are at their lowest of the year, and the island feels noticeably more local.
Mid February through early March. After the Australian summer wave passes and before Nyepi disrupts mid March, Bali enters a genuinely quiet period. Greenery is at its peak, waterfalls are running, and you will have any restaurant table you want.

Nyepi is the Balinese New Year, a 24 hour island wide silent retreat day in March. Nyepi 2027 falls on March 8. If you are flying in or out on Nyepi or the day immediately after, change your dates. If you are already on the island it becomes one of the most unusual cultural experiences in Asia.
