Luxury all inclusive travel has changed. The days of sticky wristbands and lukewarm buffets are long gone. Today the best all inclusive resorts feature Michelin calibre restaurants, private island settings, overwater villas with personal butlers, and wellness programmes designed by leading practitioners.
We spent months researching and comparing the finest all inclusive properties across six continents. This is a curated selection of 15 resorts where the quality of dining, accommodation, service, and setting justify the price, and where the all inclusive model genuinely enhances the experience.
We focused on properties where the all inclusive package is genuinely comprehensive: quality dining at multiple venues, premium beverages, most activities, and ideally some spa inclusions. Resorts offering only a basic meal plan were not considered.

Editor's Pick · Sumba Island, Indonesia

An hour by plane from Bali, Nihi Sumba sits on one of the most spectacular coastlines in Southeast Asia. The resort was originally built around Nihiwatu, a left hand reef break considered one of the best surf waves on earth and limited to just 10 surfers per day. The 27 villas range from one to five bedrooms, each perched along the hillside with unobstructed ocean views.
The all inclusive rate covers three meals daily, a curated minibar refreshed each day, selected spa treatments, and a rotating programme of excursions including horseback riding, spear fishing with local fishermen, waterfall treks, and village visits. What sets Nihi apart is authenticity: 500 plus local staff, the Sumba Foundation, and ingredients sourced from the island's own farms.

Best for Honeymoons · Soufriere, St Lucia

There is no hotel room in the world quite like a Jade Mountain sanctuary. Each of the 29 suites has only three walls. The fourth is entirely open to the Caribbean, framing the twin volcanic peaks of the Pitons in what feels like a living painting. Every sanctuary includes a private infinity pool that appears to pour directly into the rainforest below.
Architect Nick Troubetzkoy designed each sanctuary individually, meaning no two are identical. The smallest spans 1,600 square feet, the largest over 3,000. The all inclusive package covers all meals across three restaurants, premium drinks including champagne and top shelf spirits, afternoon tea, a chocolate lab experience, snorkelling equipment, kayaks, and select spa treatments.

Best Private Island · Tetiaroa, French Polynesia

Marlon Brando discovered Tetiaroa while filming Mutiny on the Bounty in 1960 and spent decades dreaming of building an eco resort on this ring of pristine motus. The Brando finally opened in 2014 and remains one of the most exclusive private island resorts anywhere. Thirty five villas sit along the white sand shoreline, each with a private plunge pool and direct beach access.
The all inclusive rate covers all dining at three restaurants, most beverages including quality wines and spirits, one spa treatment per guest per day, bicycle use, snorkelling, paddleboarding, and access to the Tetiaroa Society marine research station. The resort runs entirely on renewable energy, including deep sea water air conditioning.

Best in the Maldives · Raa Atoll

The Maldives has no shortage of luxury resorts, but very few offer a genuinely all inclusive experience that matches the quality of the accommodation. Emerald Faarufushi gets this balance right. Set on a private island in the Raa Atoll, the resort features 80 villas, both beach and overwater, all with private pools and direct lagoon access.
The Deluxe All Inclusive package covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner at five restaurants, premium spirits and wines, daily afternoon tea, a stocked minibar replenished daily, one 60 minute spa treatment per person per stay, non motorised water sports, and a sunset dolphin cruise. The house reef is excellent, with turtles and reef sharks regularly spotted from the overwater deck.

Best for Families · Baa Atoll, Maldives

Soneva invented the concept of intelligent luxury in the Maldives long before sustainability became a marketing buzzword. Founded in 1995, Soneva Fushi occupies a 36 acre island in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The 63 villas range from one to nine bedrooms, many with private pools. The design is organic: reclaimed wood, open air bathrooms, no shoes required.
Soneva's all inclusive covers daily dining across eight restaurants including the famous Fresh in the Garden farm to table concept. Premium beverages, a silent cinema under the stars, an observatory with a professional astronomer, a glass blowing studio, and The Den children's club are all included. Multi generational families find it remarkable that everyone from age 5 to 72 genuinely has the holiday of their lives here simultaneously.

Best Ultra Exclusive · Noonu Atoll, Maldives

If price is not a factor, Velaa is arguably the finest resort in the Maldives. The 47 villas set a standard few properties anywhere can match. The all inclusive covers all dining, premium beverages, water sports, a nine hole golf course built over the reef, and the My Blend by Clarins spa. The wine cellar holds 500 plus labels. Overwater villas feature retractable roofs for stargazing from bed.
Best Luxury Glamping · Punta Mita, Mexico

With just 15 tented suites in a 48 acre jungle reserve on Mexico's Pacific coast, Naviva redefines what luxury glamping can mean. Each tent features a king bed, private plunge pool, and sprawling deck above the tree canopy. The all inclusive covers all meals, beverages, one spa treatment per stay, and activities including coffee roasting and seafood curing. Guests access the neighbouring Four Seasons Punta Mita resort and its beaches.
Best Wellness Retreat · Big Sur, California

Perched on 160 acres of rugged California coastline with views through ancient redwoods to the Pacific. The 59 rooms include all meals at The Sur House restaurant, daily wellness activities including yoga and guided coastal hikes, and Japanese hot baths. A resort for people who want to feel restored, not just relaxed.
Best in Europe · Kos Island, Greece

Ikos has quietly changed what European all inclusive means. Seven restaurants including a Michelin starred guest chef concept, premium beverages, a stocked in room minibar, and a Dine Out programme that sends guests to curated local restaurants off property. From $800 per night for families, it represents outstanding value in the luxury all inclusive space.
Best Design Forward · Punta Cana, DR

The first W branded all inclusive brings design forward energy to the Caribbean. Seven restaurants, a speakeasy requiring a password, a daytime DJ pool scene, and premium beverages. The culinary programme is the standout: this is the first all inclusive in the Dominican Republic where you would happily pay a la carte. Starting from $700 per night, it is the most accessible luxury option on this list.
The following five resorts complete our top 15. Each deserves full consideration for the right traveller.
All inclusive luxury on a 300 acre Vermont farm estate. Two Michelin star calibre dining, all activities, and drinks included.
The leading family all inclusive in Mexico. Three distinct zones: beachfront, jungle, and cenote. Exceptional kids club.
Farm to table all inclusive on a working 4,200 acre Great Smoky Mountains estate. Outstanding seasonal cuisine.
Dramatic granite boulder villas on a private island. Nesting turtles, world class snorkelling, Six Senses wellness.

In most cases, yes. Factor in $200 to $400 per day in dining, $150 to $300 in spa, plus drinks and activities, and the all inclusive rate often represents better value than paying separately at a comparable resort.
Emerald Faarufushi offers the best balance of luxury and value with overwater villas, private pools, and a comprehensive all inclusive from around $1,200 per night. For a higher end experience, Soneva Fushi and Velaa Private Island are outstanding.
Most do, including premium spirits, cocktails, and curated wine lists. Jade Mountain and Nihi Sumba include top shelf options. The notable exception is Alila Ventana Big Sur which includes meals but charges separately for alcohol.
Book 4 to 6 months ahead for the best villa selection and rates. Shoulder seasons offer the strongest value: May and October in the Maldives, late April to June in the Caribbean, September to November in Mexico.
Yes. Soneva Fushi in the Maldives has one of the world's best kids clubs. Ikos Aria in Greece and Grand Velas Riviera Maya in Mexico both combine luxury with outstanding children's programmes and family villas.
