How to choose a hotel in Las Vegas
Las Vegas luxury changed when the casino stopped being the point. For thirty years the room was a loss leader designed to move you towards a table. The properties on this list invert that. and have no gaming at all, and makes more from rooms, dining and retail than it does from the floor. The bed is now the product, which is why the beds got so much better.
The Central Strip buys you position, the North Strip buys you the room. Central means , , and Waldorf Astoria, and everything you came to see is a walk away. North means Wynn, , , and , where the rooms are newer, the casinos calmer and the rates lower. Twenty five minutes separates the two, and in August that is not a walk anybody makes twice.
Room size is the one number worth comparing. Entry level rooms here start around 500 square feet at Waldorf Astoria and run to 745 at Encore, which is a different category of holiday at a similar price. Anything above 600 square feet gives you a sitting area you will genuinely use, because in a city this loud you will spend more time in the room than you expect.
The resort fee is the thing nobody warns you about. Every hotel here except a handful of comped rates adds USD$45 to USD$60 a night at checkout, and Clark County adds 13.38 percent room tax on top on the Strip. A USD$379 rate at Wynn is USD$489 by the time you leave. Twenty percent on the headline number is the rule of thumb, and the table further down shows the arithmetic on all five price points.
Wellness is the strongest reason to pay up in 2026. Canyon Ranch at the Venetian is the largest complex in the city, Lapis at Fontainebleau runs 55,000 square feet with a hammam and a proper thermal circuit, and Wynn has the best therapists. Everywhere else the spa is a treatment room and a steam cabinet, so if a spa day is the reason for the trip, choose the hotel around it rather than hoping.
Loyalty programmes still decide close calls. Conrad and Crockfords earn Hilton Honors, the Cosmopolitan earns Marriott Bonvoy since it joined the Autograph Collection, and Bellagio and the Venetian sit inside MGM Rewards. If you hold status in one of the three, the points and the suite upgrades are worth more than the fifty dollars a night that separates these hotels. If you hold none, ignore them entirely and book on the room.
The best weather and the highest rates arrive together. March, April and October give you 22 to 27 degrees, clear skies and pool weather that does not require shade. They are also the convention months, so rates climb and the restaurants book out. July and August are brutal at 40 degrees, but the hotels are half price and the pool complexes are the only place anyone wants to be anyway.

A spa that would hold its own in Bangkok or Baden Baden
is the one I book when somebody asks me to choose for them. Everything on this list is expensive, but Wynn is the property where the money is visible in the parts you touch: the bathroom marble, the bedding, the way a request made at ten in the morning has already happened by the time you come back at four.
Entry level Resort Kings run to about 640 square feet, which is enormous for the price, and the golf course side rooms are the quietest beds on the Strip. The spa is the best in the city and the restaurant floor is genuinely a reason to stay rather than a convenience. The casino sits at the centre, so you will cross it, but the design keeps it out of your way in a manner most resorts here never manage.

has no casino, no nightclub and no crowd walking through the lobby with a two foot cocktail. That single decision changes the whole trip. You arrive into a small ground floor lobby, ride up to the Sky Lobby on the twenty third floor and the city arranges itself below the windows while somebody brings you tea.
Rooms are calm, dressed in pale stone and dark timber, and every one of them has a full height window facing either the Strip or the mountains. It sits at the middle of the Boulevard with a covered walk to the Cosmopolitan and Aria, so you are two minutes from the noise without living in it. For sleep, this is the best hotel in Las Vegas.

is the top tier of the three hotels inside Resorts World, and it behaves like a separate building. Private entrance, private lift bank, private lobby with a butler team who greet you by name, then the whole machinery of a 3,500 room resort waiting downstairs whenever you want it.
Entry level rooms start near 690 square feet and the suites go far beyond anything else at this price in the city. What you are buying is the ratio: the space and service of a small hotel, with a theatre, a food hall, an eight acre pool complex and a casino attached. It is the most convincing use of the resort within a resort idea Las Vegas has produced.

The Conservatory and the courtyard pools are properly beautiful
is 1998 and it still holds. Part of that is the position, which is the best on the Boulevard, and part is that MGM has kept refreshing the main tower rather than letting it fade. A fountain view room on a high floor remains one of the great Las Vegas experiences and it costs a fraction of what the newer towers ask.
The Conservatory is free, changes five times a year and is worth twenty minutes even if you are staying elsewhere. Picasso and Le Cirque are still serious restaurants. The compromise is scale: this is a busy hotel with a big casino floor and long walks, and the Spa Tower rooms are noticeably tireder than the main building. Pay the difference and stay in the main tower.

is an all suite hotel attached to Wynn by a shopping esplanade, and the entry level Resort Suite is around 745 square feet with the bed set apart from a proper sitting area. For two couples travelling together, or anyone who wants somewhere to sit that is not the end of a mattress, it is better value than the room next door at Wynn.
It is warmer in tone than Wynn, reds and golds rather than bronze and cream, and it skews younger because Encore Beach Club and XS are downstairs. That is either the appeal or the reason to book Wynn instead. Everything else, the service standard, the housekeeping, the spa access, is shared with its sister and is the best in the city.

has the only real balconies on the Strip, and a Wraparound Terrace Suite hanging over the Bellagio fountains is a room I would put against anything in this guide. It joined Marriott's Autograph Collection in 2022, so Bonvoy points and status now work here, which quietly made it the best loyalty play in Las Vegas.
The dining floor is the strongest in the city outside Wynn, and the Chandelier bar still draws locals, which is rare. It is younger and louder than Bellagio next door, and the standard rooms without a terrace are ordinary. Book a terrace category or book somewhere else, because the terrace is the entire point of the building.

opened in December 2023 after two decades of false starts, and the newness is the reason to go. Everything works, everything is clean, the bathrooms are the best on the North Strip and the Lapis spa runs to 55,000 square feet with a hammam and a proper thermal circuit rather than a sauna and a jug of cucumber water.
What it does not yet have is a crowd. Midweek the casino can feel underpopulated and a few of the restaurants have short hours as a result. That works in your favour on price: this is the cheapest way into a genuinely new luxury room in Las Vegas, and rates soften hard outside convention weeks.

Genuinely good for families and groups sharing a room
sells only suites, and the entry level Luxury King at about 650 square feet with its sunken lounge is the reason families and small groups keep coming back. A refurbishment across 2022 and 2023 replaced the gold and cherub aesthetic with something quieter, and the rooms are much better for it.
Canyon Ranch is the largest spa complex in Las Vegas and one of the few with an actual wellness programme behind it. The building is enormous and you will walk, a lot, particularly if you are in the Palazzo tower. Ask for a Venetian tower room near the lifts unless you enjoy a fifteen minute journey to your own bed.

Full access to the Resorts World pool complex and theatre
is the middle tier at Resorts World and, on the numbers, the best value luxury room in the city. You get the same eight acre pool complex, the same theatre and the same food hall as the guests upstairs at Crockfords, in a room that is newer and better finished than most Central Strip towers, often for under USD$250.
Hilton Honors points and status work here, which matters if you hold Diamond. What you do not get is the private lobby, the butler team or the suite sizes. If you are in Las Vegas for the pools, the shows and the food rather than the room, this is where I would put the money.

Consistently the cheapest luxury rated room near the Strip
is a non gaming, non smoking tower set one block back from the Boulevard behind Fashion Show mall, and every room has a kitchen or kitchenette. That combination makes it the obvious choice for a week rather than a weekend, and the rates reflect a building with no casino subsidising them.
Rooms are large, quiet and dated in a way that never bothered me: heavy curtains, marble bathrooms, real desks. The pool is small and the walk to the Strip is five minutes past a car park. Book it for space, silence and self catering, not for glamour.

Rates start around USD$379 a night. If you want the same standard without a casino attached, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas is the alternative, from about USD$349.
Three of the ten. Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas on the Central Strip, Trump International west of the Boulevard, and Vdara nearby if you are willing to drop a tier. Waldorf Astoria is the most refined of the three and the quietest hotel in the city. Trump International is the cheapest and has a kitchen in every room, which suits longer stays.
Expect USD$190 to USD$450 a night for the ten hotels in this guide midweek outside convention season, and USD$400 to USD$900 on Friday and Saturday. Add a resort fee of USD$45 to USD$60 a night plus 13.38 percent room tax on the Strip. Suites at Crockfords and Wynn run from USD$700 upward. Rates checked live in August 2026.
A mandatory nightly charge added at checkout covering wifi, the fitness centre and local calls, whether you use them or not. In 2026 it runs USD$45 to USD$60 a night at the hotels here, and it is not included in the rate you see on Booking.com. You cannot opt out, though some casino loyalty tiers and comped stays waive it. Add roughly 20 percent to any headline rate to reach your true cost.
Wynn has the best treatments and the best therapists. Canyon Ranch at The Venetian is the largest complex and the only one running a full wellness programme. Lapis at Fontainebleau, at 55,000 square feet, has the strongest thermal circuit including a hammam. If a spa day is the main event, book Canyon Ranch. If you want one exceptional treatment, book Wynn.
It means a separate tower with its own entrance, lift bank and reception sitting inside a much larger property. Crockfords and Conrad both sit inside Resorts World, and Nobu sits inside Caesars Palace. You get boutique arrival and service while sharing the pools, theatre and restaurants of a resort with thousands of rooms. Crockfords is the most convincing version in the city.
July and August, when daytime highs reach 40 degrees and the pools are the only bearable place to be, and the first three weeks of December before Christmas. January is also cheap, apart from the CES week in early January when rates triple. The most expensive weeks are March, April and October, which are also the best weather.

Wynn Resort Kings run to roughly 640 square feet, which is still larger than most suites at Central Strip resorts. Waldorf Astoria is the smallest of the ten at around 500 square feet.
They are usually identical, because the major operators run rate parity. Booking.com wins on free cancellation flexibility and Genius pricing on a handful of properties. Booking direct wins if you hold MGM Rewards, Hilton Honors or Marriott Bonvoy status and want the stay to count, which matters at Bellagio, Conrad and the Cosmopolitan.
Bellagio. The position is the best on the Boulevard, the fountains and the Conservatory are free, and almost everything you have seen in photographs is within a fifteen minute walk. Ask for a fountain view room in the main tower and avoid the Spa Tower entirely.
Stay central for a first trip or a short one. The North Strip, meaning Wynn, Encore, Resorts World and Fontainebleau, gives you newer rooms, better value and calmer casinos, but the walk south is twenty five minutes and you will use taxis. If your trip is about the hotel rather than the Boulevard, north wins.
Wynn and Encore between them hold the strongest single resort collection in the city. The Cosmopolitan is the closest challenger and has the better bar scene. Bellagio still runs two long standing destination restaurants. If dining is the reason for the trip, staying at Wynn removes every taxi from the equation.
